Your registration has been received

Thank you for registering your interest in volunteering for beach clean-ups on the eastern seaboard of the Coromandel Peninsula (from Whiritoa north).

There is currently no imminent threat of oil from the grounded ship, Rena, reaching our coastline. However, the Waikato Regional Council is working with Thames-Coromandel and Hauraki district councils, as well as Maritime New Zealand, to closely monitor our coast.

If oil reaches our shores we will be working with Maritime New Zealand to coordinate the volunteer workforce and you will be contacted.

Volunteers will play a crucial role in helping with any potential beach clean-ups, and training will be provided prior to undertaking this work. This is important to ensure you are safe, the clean-up is undertaken methodically, and the waste is disposed of without causing further damage to our environment.
